It’s taken me a few months to write this—because it still feels like a dream! There truly aren’t enough stars to give Villa Vetrichina, or to thank Patrizia, Francesco, and Angela for the most wonderful experience our family has ever had.
We planned a last-minute trip to Italy, looking for a villa that could accommodate our large group: five adult children and their partners, three granddaughters, and one small dog. After searching the country, we were incredibly lucky to find Villa Vetrichina available for the exact week we needed. We came from the USA and Germany to gather in a place like no other.
From the moment Patrizia and I first connected over email, I knew this was the place. Her warmth and attention to detail made it feel like home before we even arrived—and it became the special place where we celebrated my husband’s milestone birthday.
Patrizia went above and beyond: patiently answering all my questions, suggesting things to do, arranging a wine tour, pasta-making class, and pizza party. She created an experience that turned a celebration into a lifetime memory. From baking a spectacular birthday cake (complete with bride and groom figurines to honor two of our engaged couples), to picking out the best steaks at the butcher, to bringing super soakers for our granddaughters, to being available for every. single. thing—we were overwhelmed with her kindness and hospitality.
And Francesco and Angela were just as incredible. They made us feel like family from start to finish. Oh, and the welcome and farewell dinners? Absolutely unforgettable.
Even before we arrived, I knew it would be special. My children flew in ahead of us and texted:
“Mom… this place is incredible. INCREDIBLE. Wait till you see it… it’s so beautiful. I mean, it’s so incredible, I can almost confidently say it’s the most beautiful/best place you’ve ever arranged for us to stay… it’s enchanting. I mean, like honestly guys, do some mental preparation because the initial house tour made me borderline emotional. This is pure unadulterated appreciation for a magnificent home… You’re going to be blown away.”

And we were blown away—by the home, the location, the nearby villages, and the entire experience. The house easily fit all of us, with ensuite bedrooms, air conditioning, a private space for my son’s family, a gorgeous pool, multiple outdoor areas, and complete privacy. Just a couple of hours from the Rome airport, perfectly placed in Tuscany near the Umbrian border—it couldn’t have been more ideal.
I won’t list all the amenities (they’re on the website), but trust me: the house had everything you could possibly want—and more.
But what truly made it unforgettable were the people. You can find beautiful homes in Italy… but you won’t find people more devoted to making your experience joyful, special, and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
We are so grateful we found Villa Vetrichina. If you’re looking for the best of Italy, book this home. You won’t regret it.
